01
General.
Who can use Lockolis lockers?
Lockolis smart lockers are for any organisation looking to automate the handling of its physical flows: service-sector businesses (offices, SMEs, large groups) for parcel reception and IT/HR equipment distribution, industrial sites (factories, workshops, 3-shift operations) for distributing PPE and tracked tools, retailers and online sellers (Shopify, WooCommerce, PrestaShop) for click & collect, with pickup possible even when the shop is closed, local authorities (town halls, universities, libraries) for public services and equipment loans, and carriers wishing to build an open, multi-carrier network of parcel pickup points. Lockolis has 2,500+ lockers deployed in France and more than 100,000 parcels handled.
Where are your lockers based?
Lockolis has been based in Lyon (9 cours Charlemagne, 69002) since 2023. Our lockers are assembled, programmed and maintained in Lyon, with 100% French software and data hosted in France (GDPR compliant). We deploy our solutions for our customers in metropolitan France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Monaco, Germany, Italy and Spain: our technical teams travel to install on site, train your staff and carry out maintenance. For multi-site deployments, centralised management through a single back office lets you supervise all your lockers from anywhere.
Do you operate outside France (Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Monaco, Germany, Italy, Spain)?
Yes. We deliver, install and maintain our lockers in metropolitan France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Monaco, Germany, Italy and Spain, on the same terms as in France: prices in euros excluding VAT, installation 2 to 4 weeks after the order, maintenance included. The locker's screen and messages are in French or English; another language can be discussed with our team. For another country, write to us at contact@lockolis.com: we consider each project case by case. We do not operate in the French overseas territories.
How satisfied are your customers?
Lockolis has 2,500+ lockers deployed in France and more than 100,000 parcels handled. After a drop-off or a pickup, the locker's screen can ask the user for a rating, so satisfaction can be tracked site by site. Customers mainly value three things: ease of use (no app to install, pickup in under 10 seconds with a unique code), reliability (monitoring and preventive maintenance) and the responsiveness of technical support (remote intervention in most cases). Our long-standing customers include service-sector businesses, industrial sites, local authorities and retailers from every sector. Dedicated support (flow audit, process playbooks, training of internal champions) also helps operational teams adopt the locker quickly.
02
Parcel reception.
How does autonomous parcel reception work?
Autonomous parcel reception with Lockolis works in three simple, fully automated steps. (1) The delivery driver (UPS, Chronopost, Colissimo, DHL, FedEx, etc.) comes to the locker, selects the recipient from the list shown on the touchscreen and places the parcel in the locker, which opens automatically. (2) The recipient immediately receives a notification by SMS or email (or Slack if configured) with a unique code or a QR code to collect the parcel. (3) The recipient comes to the locker whenever they like, even when reception is closed, enters the code on the touchscreen or scans the QR code, and collects the parcel in under 10 seconds. Every action is logged and time-stamped in the back office, ensuring full traceability with no human intervention on the company's side.
Which carriers are compatible?
Lockolis lockers are compatible with every carrier operating in France, without exception. The most common carriers include UPS (official partner), Chronopost, Colissimo (La Poste), DHL, FedEx, GLS, DPD, Mondial Relay and Amazon Logistics. The delivery driver needs no dedicated app and no specific training: they come to the locker, select the recipient from the list shown on the touchscreen and place the parcel in the locker, which opens automatically. Local couriers, specialised delivery services (express, medical, refrigerated) and B2B deliveries are also supported. For carriers wishing to connect their TMS (Transport Management System), our open REST API allows a connection, with technical support included.
How is parcel security ensured?
Parcel security in Lockolis lockers relies on several combined mechanisms. Individual electronic locking for each locker, controlled by the management software. Unique, temporary pickup codes sent to the recipient, which cannot be reused. Optional video surveillance built into the main module. Full traceability in the back office: every opening, drop-off and pickup is logged with the date, the time and the user concerned. Data is hosted in France and the solution is GDPR compliant. The delivery driver can only access the specific locker assigned to the recipient they have just selected from the list: they never have global access to the locker bank.
What types of parcels can be handled?
All types of parcels: small and medium packages, documents, equipment, IT hardware. Different compartment sizes are available.
What is the difference between personal and business parcel reception?
Personal parcel reception covers employees' parcels (personal orders, online purchases). Business parcel reception covers parcels addressed to the company (suppliers, professional equipment, office supplies). The system can distinguish and manage both types of parcels with suitable access and traceability rules.
03
Equipment distribution.
How does autonomous management by department work?
Each department (IT, HR, Maintenance, Marketing) has differentiated access by team or by person. Managers place the equipment in the lockers and set up automatic notifications. Each user can only access the lockers and equipment authorised for their role.
How much time does it save?
The time saved depends on your flows: equipment is placed in the locker and everyone collects it with their badge or a code, even when the stores or reception are closed, with no hand-over in person. The quote, sent within 48 hours, comes with a return-on-investment estimate calculated on your volumes.
What are the main use cases for equipment distribution?
Smart lockers let each department manage its equipment: IT (phones, laptops, IT accessories, licence keys), HR (welcome kits, badges and keys, training material, personalised PPE), Maintenance (specialist tools, safety equipment, keys and access, spare parts), Marketing (event material, goodies and samples, presentation equipment, communication materials). Each department can manage its equipment autonomously with full traceability.
What types of equipment can be managed in the lockers?
All types of equipment: IT equipment (phones, tablets, laptops), maintenance tools, welcome kits, event material, PPE, badges, keys, spare parts, etc. We offer different compartment sizes to suit your specific needs. The system ensures full traceability of every loan and return.
04
Click & Collect.
How does automated Click & Collect work?
Your customers order online and choose locker pickup. You place the order in the locker. The customer receives an access code and collects the order whenever they like, even when the shop is closed.
Which e-commerce platforms are compatible?
Shopify, WooCommerce, PrestaShop, Magento and most platforms, through our REST API and webhooks, with a connector set up during your deployment. Allow 1 month for integration, depending on complexity.
What types of products can be stored?
Clothing, electronics, cosmetics, books, etc. We offer different compartment sizes to suit your catalogue.
05
Luggage storage.
How does luggage or item drop-off work?
The user books a locker directly on the touchscreen or on their smartphone, selects the right size (S to XL), places their luggage inside and closes the locker. A unique code or a QR code is provided immediately for collection. The process is 100% autonomous and takes less than 30 seconds.
Is it secure for users?
Absolutely. Our lockers are made of sturdy steel with electronic locks. Every drop-off is logged and time-stamped, and if a code is lost, the administrator can unlock the locker through the secure management interface. Data is encrypted and GDPR compliant.
Can the service be charged for?
Yes, it is optional. You can offer this service free of charge to your users or charge for it (payment per hour or per day). A payment terminal can be built directly into the locker module so transactions are handled autonomously. You set your own prices.
What locker sizes are available?
Our modules are modular, with 4 standard sizes: S (handbag, helmet, PPE - ~20L), M (cabin suitcase, backpack - ~40L), L (large suitcase, equipment - ~80L) and XL (oversized luggage, instruments, pushchairs - ~120L). You can combine these sizes according to your needs and the space available.
What is the maximum storage period?
You decide. You can set time limits (for example 24h, 48h or 7 days) and apply decreasing rates or penalties for overstays. Automatic alerts are sent before expiry to avoid forgotten items.
What happens if an item is left behind?
An automatic alert is sent to the administrator once the booking period has ended. You can set up automatic reminders (SMS/email) to the user and act according to your internal policy (contact the user, apply storage fees or transfer the item to lost property).
What if a user loses their access code?
The user can contact the administrator through the interface or a dedicated number. After checking their identity (using the booking details), the administrator can unlock the locker remotely through the secure management interface. A new code can also be generated if needed.
06
Offices.
How do the lockers fit into our offices?
Modern design, customisable in your company's colours. Simple installation: a power socket and an internet connection are all it takes.
Can several companies in the same building share the lockers?
Yes, the lockers can be shared between several companies in the same building. Each company has differentiated, secure access to its own lockers or compartments. The system allows independent management for each company with separate traceability, while keeping costs down by sharing the infrastructure.
Do you offer multi-site solutions?
Yes, centralised management of all your lockers from a single interface, with specific rules for each site and global traceability.
07
Industry.
How do you help us integrate the locker into our processes?
We do not just sell a locker, but a complete organisational change. Our support includes: a free audit of your current flows, a tailored integration plan adapted to your organisation, standardised process playbooks for your 3 main use cases (parcel reception, equipment distribution, customer pickup), and ongoing support to integrate the locker into your existing flows. We also provide all the tools you need (email templates, posters, training guides) to make internal adoption easier.
How do you calculate the ROI of the solution?
Every quote comes with an estimate of the potential ROI based on your current situation. Together we calculate the real cost of your current situation: time lost by employees looking for parcels or parts, the cost of lost or untracked PPE, the time storekeepers spend on hand-overs in person, etc. We then present the quote with a clear ROI, showing that each month of hesitation represents a quantified loss. We also provide a ready-to-use ROI case for your management and finance teams.
Do you offer a way to reduce the investment risk?
Yes, we offer an OpEx rental plan (hardware, software and maintenance included) that avoids lengthy CapEx approvals and turns a complex decision into a gradual roll-out. You can start with one area or a limited use case, then expand according to the results.
How can you help us convince our management?
We provide a complete 'internal defence kit' for your contact person: an IT technical sheet covering IT security, a detailed ROI calculation for finance, and a template survey to measure employee buy-in. Your contact only has to present these documents internally - we have done the thinking for them.
08
Retailers.
Is installation really free for retailers?
Yes, for eligible partner retailers, installation, hardware and maintenance are 100% free. We earn our income from service fees paid by users or carriers.
Can I earn money with a locker?
Yes: people collecting a parcel come into your shop, and you receive a monthly fee for the space you provide, from €50 per month, set out in your partnership agreement.
How much space is needed to install a locker?
Our solutions are very compact. About 1m² of floor space is enough to get started. We have modular configurations that adapt to the layout of your shop (indoors or outdoors).
09
Local authorities.
How can a locker help revitalise local shops?
Installed in the town centre or near shopping areas, the locker serves as a shared pickup point for all local retailers. They can place their customers' orders in it for pickup outside opening hours (evenings, Sundays), boosting their business.
Is the solution accessible to all residents?
Yes, our lockers are designed to be 100% inclusive. The interface is simple and intuitive, and the lockers comply with accessibility standards for people with reduced mobility, with screens and compartments at a suitable height.
Can lockers be installed in different public places?
Absolutely. Our lockers can be installed in town halls, but also in libraries, sports halls or cultural centres to manage equipment loans or the distribution of rubbish and recycling bags.
10
Coworking.
How do the lockers adapt to mobile members?
The lockers offer flexible storage for visiting coworkers (luggage storage) and secure parcel reception for resident members. Management is 100% autonomous via smartphone, freeing up reception.
Can we charge for use of the lockers?
Yes, you can choose to charge for locker use by the hour, by the day or by subscription. It is an additional source of revenue for your coworking space, while offering a real customer service.
Is parcel reception open to everyone?
You set the rules. You can reserve parcel reception for resident members or open it to everyone. The system automatically notifies the recipient as soon as a parcel arrives, keeping reception uncluttered.
11
Carriers.
How can our lockers be integrated into your delivery network?
Integration through our standardised REST API. Technical support included. Allow 1 month for integration, depending on complexity.
How does interoperability between carriers work?
All Lockolis lockers are interoperable. A locker can receive parcels from every partner carrier in the network.
Do you have connectors for existing systems?
Yes, transport management systems (TMS) and route planning solutions connect to our REST API and webhooks, with a connector set up at deployment. Custom development is possible.
12
Installation.
How long does installation take?
Installing a Lockolis locker takes about half a day on site. Our technical teams travel in metropolitan France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Monaco, Germany, Italy and Spain and handle every step: receiving and unpacking the modules, physical assembly, electrical connection (standard 230V socket, no building work or network cabling needed thanks to the built-in 4G/5G), configuration of the software in your colours, creation of the first users, full system tests, and on-site training of your internal champion. The locker is therefore up and running the same day. Commissioning takes place 2 to 4 weeks after the order, depending on stock availability and the complexity of the site. Delivery and installation are extra, at the fixed price stated in the quote.
How much space is needed?
At least 1m² of floor space. Our lockers are modular and adapt to different spaces. Custom solutions are available.
Is installation free for retailers?
Yes, 100% free for partner retailers. Installation, configuration and training included. You receive a monthly fee for the space you provide, from €50 per month, set out in your partnership agreement.
How does installation work?
Installation in half a day by our technicians, with training included. Delivery and installation are extra, at the fixed price stated in the quote. Together we agree on the locker best suited to your space.
Can I display my brand on the locker?
Yes, you can display your logo or an advertising message on the locker's screen to increase your visibility.
Can the colour of the locker be customised?
The locker is delivered in a standard finish, with your logo or your message displayed on the touchscreen (included). Customising the colour of the cabinet is possible on quote, case by case: mention it in your demo request or when talking to our sales team.
Can the lockers be installed outdoors?
Yes, our lockers can be installed outdoors. The locker only needs a standard 230V power socket, with no solar panels or batteries. 4G/5G connectivity is built in, so no network cabling is required. The cabinet is designed to withstand bad weather. The only requirement: a flat, stable surface (concrete, asphalt, paving slabs). A canopy is recommended for users' comfort but is not mandatory. Important: Lockolis does not supply a self-contained power system (solar, batteries). If your site has no power supply nearby, an electrician will need to run a connection.
13
Integrations.
How does the solution integrate with our existing tools?
Slack connector included, as well as email and SMS notifications. Microsoft Teams, Outlook and Google Workspace connect to our API, with a connector set up during your deployment. Our API also allows integration with your HR, ERP and reporting tools.
Is there a mobile app to install?
No, no mobile app is needed, whether for your employees, your customers or the delivery drivers. This zero-app approach is a deliberate choice that removes barriers to adoption: no download, no account to create, no complex onboarding. To drop off, the delivery driver selects the recipient on the touchscreen and places the parcel in the locker, which opens. To collect, the recipient receives a unique code (or a QR code) by SMS, email or Slack according to your preferences, and uses it directly on the touchscreen. The management back office (user creation, history, exports) is accessible from any web browser, with nothing to install. The result: immediate adoption by your users from day one.
14
Pricing.
What is the base price?
Lockolis pricing starts at €349 excl. VAT/month for rental of a main module of 18 lockers, with maintenance, software updates, 4G/5G connectivity and support (Monday to Saturday, 8:30am to 7pm) all included in the subscription. The exact price depends on several criteria: the number of lockers needed (calculated from your flows: employees, parcel volume, use cases), the split by size (S, M, L, XL), the features enabled (parcel reception, click & collect, PPE distribution, luggage storage), indoor or outdoor model (IP55), and the level of custom branding. Delivery and installation are extra, at the fixed price stated in the quote. Every quote is tailored and transparent, with no hidden costs.
What are the costs and the expected ROI?
Lockolis prices adapt to each configuration, with two models: OpEx (monthly subscription from €349 excl. VAT/month, maintenance included) or CapEx (outright purchase from €4,800 excl. VAT for the main module of 18 lockers in the indoor version, plus a software licence). Delivery and installation are extra, at the fixed price stated in the quote. The return on investment depends on your flows: the time spent receiving and handing over parcels, distributing equipment or chasing latecomers; at our customers' sites, the locker brings 95% fewer work interruptions caused by parcels and equipment. Every quote comes with a return-on-investment estimate calculated on your volumes. For eligible partner retailers, installation is free and you receive a monthly fee for the space you provide, from €50 per month. For a detailed quote, use the online configurator: the quote arrives by email within 48 hours.
Are there any hidden costs?
No, no hidden costs. All costs are transparent and itemised in the quote. The Lockolis monthly subscription includes: the hardware (locker, touchscreen, electronics), the management software with lifetime updates, preventive and corrective maintenance (technician travel included), technical support Monday to Saturday from 8:30am to 7pm (phone, email, chat), 4G/5G connectivity if needed (no additional data subscription to take out), and GDPR-compliant data hosting in France. Delivery and installation are extra, at the fixed price stated in the quote. No surprises, no last-minute extras, no commitment hidden in the contract terms.
Can we choose a CapEx model rather than OpEx?
Yes, both models are possible. The OpEx model (subscription) remains the most popular because it offers 5 concrete advantages: (1) no capital tied up, no upfront investment, (2) deductible as an operating expense rather than depreciated, (3) software updates included = no obsolescence, (4) can be scaled up or down to suit your needs, (5) predictable total cost of ownership (TCO), with maintenance, support (Monday to Saturday, 8:30am to 7pm) and 4G/5G connectivity included. For organisations that prefer CapEx (purchase from €4,800 excl. VAT for the main module, plus a software licence), contact us for a quote suited to your budget framework.
What is the subscription commitment period?
The Lockolis subscription runs for 12, 24 or 36 months. A shorter rental is possible from 6 months (a season, for example), on quote and at a higher monthly fee. We do not offer rentals of less than 6 months (events, occasional needs, storage between private individuals): the solution is designed for organisations equipping a site. The exact duration and terms are stated clearly in every quote.
How do we work out the number of lockers needed?
Sizing depends on your main use. Parcel reception: count the parcels received per day, both the company's and the employees'. Up to 10 parcels per day, the main module of 18 lockers is enough; each additional column adds 11 lockers. If you only know your headcount, count 1.5 personal parcels per employee per month. Click & Collect: about 2 lockers per daily order. Equipment distribution (PPE, tools, IT): about 2 lockers per daily equipment movement. For a precise calculation suited to your situation, use our online configurator at lockolis.com/en/locker-configurator: it automatically calculates the number of lockers, then you receive within 48 hours a tailored quote with an estimate of your return on investment.
15
Support.
What should we do if there is a technical problem?
If there is a technical problem, Lockolis support can be reached Monday to Saturday from 8:30am to 7pm (excluding public holidays) by phone, on the number shown by the 'Help' button on the locker's screen (your account manager can also give it to you), by email or by chat from the back office. Most incidents are resolved remotely by our technicians through secure access to the system (emergency unlocking, software restart, network diagnostics). If an on-site intervention proves necessary, it is arranged according to the terms of your contract. Monitoring also makes it possible to detect and resolve some anomalies proactively, before they affect your users. Preventive maintenance (checks, updates, hardware inspections) is included in the subscription, at no extra cost.
Is maintenance included?
Yes, preventive maintenance is included in the subscription. Regular remote checks and interventions when needed.
How do you ensure the lockers stay available?
Preventive maintenance and remote monitoring to anticipate problems before they affect your users.
